Following the success of his inaugural mix for Ultra, Awake, George Acosta returned a year later in early 2001 with not one but two mix albums: Release: AM Edition and PM Edition. Both of the similar mixes find the Miami trance DJ throwing down the sort of intense Euro-trance that was beginning to peak in popularity among stateside clubgoers during this time. The Release: AM Edition mix features several of Acosta's own productions: the two-minute 'Dark Intro,' a brief snippet of his 'In My Eyes Edit' of Talla 2XLC's 'World in My Eyes,' and also his remixes of Oval Sun's 'Shadow Warriors' and the Grim Reaper's 'Taken Over Space.' This mix and its companion helped crown Acosta the king of Florida trance in the early 2000s and set the stage for the DJ's continued commercial success. Jason Birchmeier.
